Talia Crane Donates $50K to ACLU After Criticism for Ditching Women's March

• Talia shows up for Women's March on NYC, stays long enough to instagram about it and then disappears

• Fan accounts surface of her taking off less than twenty minutes after the event began, is spotted with friends in a cafe while the march is still going

• Social media backlash leads to Talia deleting her instagram photos of the event, goes silent on twitter/instagram/snapchat

• Just Jared is first to report Talia's donation to the ACLU in the wake of Saturday night airport protests of Trump's Muslim flight ban

• No confirmation or comment from Talia yet re: the donation

• Talia has long claimed to be a "feminist" but "not a political person"

( ICYMI: Instagram screencaps and more info )

I've had it with this pick and choose halfassed political involvement but shitty celebrity money's still money, if you have the funds don't forget to donate

When you're white and rich it's easy to shrug and not worry about it, I guess.

It must be nice to know you can get up and fly to France when the oppression becomes too much

from everything i've seen of her it's also possible that she just doesn't want to talk politics in public, i'm getting sick of celebrities shoving their beliefs down my throat anyway when most of it's scripted and you know they don't really have any idea what they're talking about

i don't get it either, but you'd be surprised how many people are this way. some people can't handle thinking about anything bad even when it's looking right at them.

The way I see it, you can be aware and knowledgeable about politics without being really active or vocal on a particular stance. Not everyone is cut out to be assertive about politics.

i think part of it is being intimidated by all of it and not having the time/energy/will to learn about the political process.

i don't understand why people are so mad to begin with that she showed up to the march and left, would you rather her have not shown up at all?

People are mad because she showed up probably just to make it into all of the articles about celebrities that came out after the march but she didn't care enough to stick around and follow through. It's lazy, hypocritical armchair activism/feminism from a celebrity who has gone out of her way not to talk politics in the past.

she doesn't talk about politics but she's talked about feminist issues in the past, i still think people are being too quick to jump to conclusions about why she left

i make 35k a year thanks to the glass ceiling and unfair work practices for women so in comparison to this princess who could comfortably live off her royalty checks for the rest of her life i feel okay with my decisions

little bit of a devil's advocate here but it has to suck feeling like you can't even go online and defend yourself without literally hundreds of people jumping down your throat because you left a voluntary march early

Talia clarified in the same interview where she said she wasn't political that she doesn't understand why people are so interested in hearing her views on the issues when she comes from a position of privilege and there are more qualified and informed people out there to be listening to. She's still learning like the rest of us, give her a break.

Are you kidding me? If she's willing to acknowledge her privilege, she should also be ready to step up and use that privilege to help people who aren't as lucky as she is. This reeks of white bullshit excuses for not caring enough to learn.

that doesn't change the fact that if you want to hear someone's opinions on sexism in the workplace you'd be better off listening to someone who 1. isn't in a million dollar industry of privilege that is totally disconnected from reality and 2. has dedicated themselves to being educated on the topic
